Hitachinaka was established in 1994 from the two towns of Hiraiso and Minato. It is located on the east coast of Japan in Ibaraki Prefecture. Like many other coastal cities in Japan, its main industry is fishing. The Nakaminato Fish Market is a large tourist destination in the city. There is also a park to visit called Hitachi Seaside Park, which has rotating flowers based on the time of year. Tourists will also enjoy Kodokan Park, Semba Boardwalk, Kairakuen Park, many shrines and the Oarai Aquarium.
