Though Coco is only a small fishing village, visitors can be found covering the whole beach on weekends. Playa del Coco has white-grey sands and rests in a horseshoe-bay in the Papagayo region. Both locals and travelers frequent this destination for its fun atmosphere and ongoing fiesta feel. Exciting nightlife can be found in the various bars near the town's central plaza, as well as in casinos, discos, and restaurants. Outdoor activities include sport fishing, diving, and snorkeling. For those wanting a break from the crowds on the beach, a trip to nearby Marino Las Baulas National Park presents the opportunity to see the Leatherback, Pacific Green, and Hawksbill turtles that make their nest in the area.
