The Sarmiento Canal is one of the principal channels of Patagonia. It begins just south of the Guia Narrows and stretches all the way to the southern end of Victoria Pass in Chile. Along the borders of the canal are mountainous islands. Some of these mountains can reach great heights like that of Esperanza Island which holds elevations between 300 and 1,067 m. Several bays that are usable for large ships can be found on the coast of the Sarmiento as well.
