At 38 square miles, Ilha Dos Tigres is the largest island in Angola. Prior to 1962, the island was still connected to the mainland; however a storm destroyed the waterline over the isthmus and created the island nearly overnight. The island has no pumped water, and has become a sort of ghost town since it was abandoned in 1974.
