Ventspils is the sixth largest city in Latvia, located in the historical Courland region. Literally meaning "Castle on the Venta", Ventspils is situated on the Venta River and is home to the Livonian Order's Castle. Wander around the Market Sqaure, where some of Latvia's oldest dwelling houses from the 17th century are still preserved.
