Located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsunday Islands are the perfect place for diving, snorkeling and sailing. Only eight of the 74 islands are inhabited, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy private, pristine beaches and coves. Whithaven Beach on Whitsunday Island extends for six kilometers of pure white sand and has been voted one of the world's best beaches. Diving lessons, from beginners' classes to more advanced courses, are offered daily on Airlie Beach, and vacationers can either rent boats for sailing or take chartered vessels through the islands.
